Ava DuVernay was born on August 24, 1972 at Long Beach California. DuVernay had a close relationship with her aunt Denise she urged DuVernay to be creative and drawn by art. DuVernay was asked to examine the garbage inside the home that belonged to a member of the jury. Her work left her dissatisfied in journalism, so she decided to move towards the publicity sector. DuVernay was brought in right from college to be an assistant publicist in a small studio. In 1999, she established her own firm of public relations, called The DuVernay Agency.
