Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. After two years, she was hired by NBC News as a Washington correspondent. 1981 she started covering at the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in the year 1992. Mitchell has been a panelist and host of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy news stories throughout the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as The Iran Contra affair. Mitchell traveled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
